Privacy policy

Paraklet is a wellness and accountability app run by Tife's coaching brand ("Paraklet", "we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you use the app, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. Questions or requests: tennyboluwatife@gmail.com.

What we collect

• Account details: your email address and password (stored encrypted), or your name and email from Google if you sign in with Google.
• Profile: name, goals, fitness level, dietary preferences, coaching style, check-in time, calorie and protein targets, and, if you choose to add them, age, height, weight, target weight and gender.
• What you log: meals (including photos you choose to analyse), skipped meals and reasons, sleep, bedtime, workouts, long-term goals, accountability plans, guidance requests, affirmations generated for you, shopping lists and recipes (including photos), and meals you save for later.
• Cycle and pregnancy information: if you choose to add it, period start dates, cycle length, and pregnancy or postpartum stage. This is health information and is only used to tailor your own suggestions.
• Messages you send to your coach, and anything your coach sends or logs for you.
• Device details: your time zone (so reminders arrive at the right local time) and, if you turn on notifications, a push notification token for your device.
• Location: only when you use nearby discovery or "where to buy", and only with your browser's permission. It is used for that one search and is not stored.

Your browser also keeps a few small settings on your device (such as theme, bedtime switch and level-up animations). We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't sell your data.

Why we use it

• To run your account and show your dashboard, points, streaks, reviews and insights.
• To create personalised affirmations, meal feedback and coaching guidance from your own data.
• To let your coach support you, and to send the reminders and notifications you've turned on.
• To keep the app secure and fix problems.

We rely on your consent for health information (including cycle and pregnancy details) and for notifications and location; you can withdraw it at any time by deleting that information, turning the feature off, or asking us to delete your account. Everything else is used to provide the service you signed up for.

Who can see your data

• You. Everything you log is private to your account by default.
• Your coach. Paraklet coaches can view members' profiles, meals, sleep, workouts, goals, accountability plans, coaching-style ratings, skipped meals and coach messages, so they can hold you accountable. They can log meals or workouts you send them and keep private coaching notes about you. Coaches cannot see your cycle or pregnancy information.
• Shopping friends. Only people you've accepted as shopping friends can see a shopping list you've chosen to share, and your recipes and recipe photos.

Services we use

We use these providers to run the app. They process data only to provide their service to us:

• Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage, hosted in the EU, Frankfurt): stores your account and everything you log.
• Vercel: hosts the app.
• OpenAI: analyses meal photos you submit and writes coaching guidance. We send the photo or your question plus the relevant parts of your profile and recent logs, not your email address.
• Google: Google sign-in (if you use it) and Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications.
• Resend: sends emails about coach access requests, coach sessions and milestones your coach celebrates with you.
• Have I Been Pwned: when you choose a password, your device checks it isn't one leaked in a data breach. Only the first 5 characters of a one-way fingerprint (hash) of the password are sent; your password and email never leave your device.
• OpenStreetMap (Overpass and Nominatim) and Open Food Facts: nearby places and barcode lookups. Our server sends only the search area or barcode, never your account details. Map images load from OpenStreetMap and workout videos from YouTube (privacy-enhanced mode).

Some of these providers are based outside the UK and EU. Where data is transferred internationally, they protect it with standard safeguards such as the UK/EU standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete information in the app (for example resetting your cycle dates) it is removed. You can delete your account yourself under My account → Delete my account, which removes it and everything linked to it straight away, or ask us by email and we'll do it within 30 days (see Delete your account).

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, or ask for it in a portable format. Email tennyboluwatife@gmail.com and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or your local data protection authority.

Children

Paraklet is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from children.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, passwords are stored hashed, and database rules make sure each member can only reach their own records (plus what coaches and accepted shopping friends are allowed to see, as described above).

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
